The brand founded by Vincenzo Lancia in 1906 has always demonstrated a spirit of innovation and originality. For example, the Astura, a top-of-the-line model, was equipped with a highly distinctive V8 engine featuring two cylinder banks set at an angle of just 17°30. A luxurious passenger car, the Lancia Astura was also produced in a racing version and won the 1934 Tour d’Italia. Its long chassis inspired many Italian coachbuilders.

This model was given a “spider”-style convertible body by the very young Turin-based designer Giovanni Battista Farina, nicknamed Pinin. To make the car’s lines even more fluid when there is only one passenger, the rear seatback folds down to close off the body.

A total of 426 Astura Type 241s were produced.
