Motocyclette NORTON big four

The Norton Motorcycle Company (founded in 1898 by James Lansdowne Norton) launched its “Model 1”, known as the Big Four, in 1907 (or 1908, depending on sources). It was the first engine manufactured by Norton.

The Big Four was produced until 1954.
The name “Big Four” comes from the “4 hp” classification (four taxable horsepower) used at the time in the United Kingdom.
The model was widely used with sidecars, notably for military service during World War II.
