At the beginning of the century, René Gillet became one of the leading specialists in V-Twin engines. In 1904, the French brand from Montrouge designed its first 500cc 45° V-twin engine with 3½ hp. This motorcycle was joined in the range by a 750cc 6 hp model unveiled the same year, followed by a 1000cc model in 1909. The 750 and 1000 stayed in the catalog until 1955! The 750cc engine was almost complete in 1910. Compared to the 1904 model, it was equipped with a magneto ignition housed in the reserve, replacing the old trembler ignition. Long because of the engine, the machine also had very long handlebars and a saddle that was set far back. It undoubtedly foreshadowed the brand's future “Grand Touring” machines.
