René Gillet was born in Troyes in 1877. Passionate about mechanics, he found a job in a general engineering company in Puteaux, in the Paris region, in 1895.
The oldest French manufacturer disappeared in 1944. His brand survived until it was taken over by Peugeot in 1956.
